These tours are led by SCHS teachers, but they are not school or district sponsored field trips.
Join Ms. Duncan and Mrs. Murray as we travel and learn about the world outside of your books!
You have studied the history of the world for years.....are you ready to step outside of your books and experience the world? Are you ready to gain a global perspective while experiencing some structured independence? Our names are Shon Duncan and Samantha Murray, and each summer for the past decade one or both of us have taken students on educational tours to different locations throughout the world to bring them the opportunity to experience history, learn and practice communicating in other languages, and learn about different cultures. Your life will never be the same after you go on an educational tour with other students!
Everything we do focuses on expanding students' understanding history, art, literature, culture, science, and language. Watching our travelers morph from teens with book knowledge into confident global citizens who are more prepared to make decisions about their own future is one of the most rewarding parts of our jobs. These experiences have been so beneficial to students that we have worked with various teachers on our campus and at other schools around the district to ensure more opportunities are provided for different groups of students. You may have received information about their trips and can explore some of those opportunities linked on the left on this website. Each trip has a slightly different focus, and our focus is on pushing our highest achieving students out of their books and into the world!
Due to the academic nature of this experience and the limited space available, we only invited students who have a strong commitment to academics and strong moral character as demonstrated by teacher recommendations. If we have space available after students have the opportunity to enroll, we do welcome parents to join us as well.

EUROPEAN TOUR 2025
The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France, and England
June 2025
We will be taking a small group of 15-20 students on a trip with EF tours focusing on International Mindedness and Our Role in a Global World. This trip will give students the chance to visit sites across Europe comparing cultures and traditions as we visit 7 countries in 15 days! Traverse borders and cultures to connect the dots of history on an unforgettable cross-cultural experience. Compare the canals in Amsterdam to those in Venice. Consider the Alps from the perspective of Munich, Innsbruck, and Lucerne. Contrast the haute couture of Paris’ Champs-Élysées with the razzle and dazzle of London’s Piccadilly Circus. Language, culture, cuisine—experience it all. What better way to broaden your mind and become a global citizen, ready to tackle the world after graduation? We hope that you will consider joining us for this fast-paced, amazing experience.

JAPAN 2024
We have a full group ready to go! Reach out by February 10th and we may be able to help you enroll.
We will be taking a group of 20-30 academically motivated students to Japan where we will focus on the history, both ancient and modern, of this beautiful nation while juxtaposing that with a country on the cutting edge of science and technology. We will see how a history of divisions and unifications affects modern-day life and participate in experiences related to leading a mindful life and building a peaceful society. This experience will be one that will resonate with students long after it ends no matter what field they ultimately decide to pursue upon graduation.
The nearly all-inclusive tours can be paid for in monthly installments or all at once. For pricing, visit the links to your left. Reserve your space today, as travel will be limited to the first 12 travelers for most trips. You do not have to be a current student to join us, so if you graduate right before we leave and want an awesome graduation gift, tell your parents! Do you attend another school in the area? You can sign up too with permission and teacher recommendations! For more information, contact Mrs. Duncan at [email protected] or Mrs. Murray at [email protected] or call 386-322-6272 ext 37829 to set up a personal meeting or talk about your questions on the phone.
